Gladstone containers for the harbour and the coastal villages

Port industry and Boyne Island households

Industrial-grade containers for one of Australia's biggest industrial ports — plus plenty of home storage for locals.

One postcode for most of Gladstone, and why that misleads

Gladstone city, Barney Point, Glen Eden, Boyne Island, Tannum Sands and Calliope all share 4680, which hides how different the truck jobs are. Harbour-side and Yarwun 4694 sites are wide industrial ground. Boyne Island and Tannum Sands are house blocks, often with a boat and a short driveway. Calliope opens into acreage. Mount Larcom 4695 is cattle country west, grids and all.

South, Agnes Water and 1770 are 4677, a longer coastal run with holiday houses and tighter beach-village streets. Salt air on a coastal block is a maintenance point for any steel box.

An industrial town's storage problem

Gladstone's port, refineries, smelter and gas plants mean a large share of the town works on sites where tools and materials need to be locked up at the end of every shift. Contractors coming in for a shutdown or a maintenance campaign want storage for the length of the job and no longer, which is what container hire is for. Businesses with a permanent yard do the sums differently: a used cargo-worthy 20ft bought once is cheaper over a few years than any rented space, and it can follow the business to the next yard.

Where the contents are bulky — scaffolding, pipe spools, palletised consumables — a 40ft container gives twice the floor for well under twice the money. It needs a sidelifter and roughly 30m of working room, which most industrial blocks have and most house blocks do not.

Households: Boyne Island, Tannum Sands and town

Away from the industrial estates, Gladstone is a town where people move often, following the work. A container on hire bridges the gap between leases or holds a household while a new place is built. Boat and fishing gear is the other regular — rods, tinnie motors, crab pots and camping kit that needs a dry, locked home. Near the water at Tannum Sands and Boyne Island, expect salt air to work on any bare steel; touch up chips and the container will look after itself.

Rural drops around Calliope

Inland around Calliope and out along the Dawson Highway it is cattle country and lifestyle acreage. Access is usually generous, but check three things before delivery day: that the gate gives the truck about 3.5m clear, that the track will carry weight if it has rained, and that nothing crosses overhead where the tray tilts. The full checklist is on our delivery page. Delivery is quoted with the container, based on where you are and what the truck has to deal with at your end.

On grade: cargo-worthy containers are sold wind and watertight and are the right pick for anything that must stay dry. As-is units are not sold as watertight — fine for star pickets and poly pipe, wrong for saddlery or furniture.

Gladstone questions

Can I hire a container in Gladstone for a shutdown?

Yes. A 20ft on hire is the usual choice for shutdown and maintenance crews — delivered to site, collected when the job wraps up. Let us know the site's induction or access requirements when you book so the driver is prepared.

Do you deliver to Tannum Sands, Boyne Island and Calliope?

Yes, all three are within our Gladstone delivery area, along with rural properties further out. Give us the address and a description of the access and you will get one price covering the container and delivery.

Should I buy new or used for a work site?

Used cargo-worthy is the standard for site storage: it is inspected, lockable and sold wind and watertight, and nobody minds a few dents. New single-trip containers make sense when the box will be converted into an office or crib room, or sits front-of-house.

Do you deliver containers to Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy?

Yes. The Discovery Coast is within our Gladstone delivery area. Some blocks are sandy or sloping, so send photos of the access and the drop spot.

Can you deliver to an industrial site with inductions?

Yes. Tell us the site's induction, PPE and gate requirements and any access windows when you book, so the driver can meet them on the day.

I am moving to Gladstone for work. Can I store my furniture in a container?

Yes. A 20ft on hire holds a typical three-bedroom household and can sit on a suitable site while you find a place. Pack furniture off the floor, add moisture absorbers, and fit vents if it will be closed up over summer. When you have a house, we collect it.

Do contractors at Yarwun take delivery on site?

Yes. The container is placed on the site the quote was written for. Send the gate and the pad with the enquiry.
