Across the rural area, gravel and laterite rises carry a truck well, but lower-lying country near creeks and the floodplains around Humpty Doo can stay wet for much of the season. Pick high ground for the drop, clear of drainage lines, and think about access through the wet as well as the dry. Tall grass and scrub can hide ruts, stumps and old fence posts, so slash the approach before the truck arrives. Overhead power lines running to bores and sheds are another common snag — a tilt-tray lifts the container well above cab height.
In the tropics, a sealed box sweats. Vents and airflow under the floor help, and nothing damp should go inside. Termites are active across the rural area, so keep the timber floor off the ground on concrete or steel supports and keep grass and timber clear around it.
For cyclone tie-downs, talk to Litchfield Council (or the Coomalie Shire for Batchelor) and an engineer; we make no cyclone claims for any container. On grade, cargo-worthy containers are inspected and sold wind and watertight; as-is units are cheaper and are not sold watertight, which rules them out for anything that must stay dry through the wet.

Access is generally good — sealed road to the gate, a gravel drive, room to turn — and most drops are straightforward for a tilt-tray. Girraween, Bees Creek and Virginia are similar, with a mix of acreage, nurseries and small farms.
Further out — Noonamah, Acacia Hills, Darwin River, Lambells Lagoon, McMinns Lagoon — blocks get larger and drives longer. Some are gravel roads for a good distance from the highway, and some cross creeks or low ground.
